The coffee of Papua New Guinea is known for its mildness but is also quite complex and has a moderate acidity. Much of this bright acidity is an apple wine like taste, which makes their coffee unique. The flavors are bright, refined, and distinct. Coffee in Papua New Guinea is grown on a long mountain chain and are divided into two groups, Eastern and Western Highlands. Coffee first began to be produced in Papua New Guinea in the early 20th century with Jamaican Blue Mountain Seeds but it is believed that coffee was first introduced in the late 19th century.
